A Sight for Sore Eyes

A Sight For Sore Eyes

By Josephine Wiliputri Grade 7

The city of Wilesville! It was another calm, peaceful, uneventful day. . . .Except for the giant ant! But that ant wouldn't be bugging Wilesville for long. Not if the Three Miracle had anything to say about it. Licia, Lacy, and Lucia raced to the scene. "Okay, Girls," said Licia. "What this pest needs is a power kick!" Wham! Licia swooped down and delivered a massive blow to ant's head. Bham! Lacy dove down and gave that ant a punt. Whoop! Lucia missed the ant completely and plummeted to the ground! What went wrong? Lucia had never missed before! But she wasn't about to let that get her down. She zipped back up again, ready to teach that ant a lesson. But where was the ant? Where were her sisters? Lucia couldn't see them anywhere. Aha! Finally, Lucia spotted the ant. "It's time for a laser attack!" Lucia shouted. "I won't miss this time." Lucia zoomed toward the ant. . and miss again! "Lucia! Stop!" yelled Licia and Lacy. They knew something was wrong. They grabbed Lucia and flew back to Professor Lee's lab. The giant ant would just have to wait. "Professor! There's something wrong with Lucia!" Lacy said. "I'm fine!" Lucia said. 'There's nothing wrong with me!" But who was Lucia talking to? "Hmmm…" said Professor Lee. "I think I see what the problem is. We just need to do a few tests." "But we have to stop the giant ant!" Lacy protested. "This won't take long at all," said Professor. "Lucia, now tell me what you see." The letters on the eye chart blurred in front of Lucia's eyes. But she gave her best shot. "J!" Lucia shouted. "O! S! I! E!" "Hmmm…" said Professor Lee. "Let's try another test. Follow my finger." Poor Lucia couldn't see the finger in front of her face! But she didn't realize anything was wrong. She thought she was doing great. "Hmmm…" said Professor Lee. "Just one more test. Aim a heat ray at this target." Lucia knew she could ace this test. Zap! The red-hot heat ray blasted from her eyes…and fried her sisters! Lucia had missed again. "Is she going to be okay?" wailed Licia. "I know just what she needs…" "Glasses!" Licia and Lacy giggled, and then they laughed! "What's so funny?" asked Lucia. Lucia walked to a mirror. "Oh, NO!" Lucia gasped. "I look like a dork!" "No, no. You look super! Now go out there and save Wilesville." Said Professor Lee. Lucia sighed. Then she took off after her sisters. Licia giggled when she saw Lucia. "Here comes a sight for sore eyes…" "It's all..four-eyes!" finished Lacy. "Hey!!" Lucia said angrily. Licia and Lacy could not stop laughing. They flew ahead. Lucia stayed behind. "I don't need these stupid glasses," she muttered. She took them off. "I can see just fine." Lucia flew off after her sisters. But… Bonk! Lucia crashed into a tree, rubbing her head, but she still didn't put on her glasses. Then she heard a scream. "Lucia! Help!" It was her sisters! Lucia searched for her sisters. But she couldn't see without her glasses. The whole city of Wilesville was one big blur. Luckily, Licia and Lacy found her sister. "Lucia, put on your glasses and help us!" ordered Licia. "No way!" Lucia said. "You'll laugh at me!" Behind them, the giant ant chomped on skyscrapers. Wilesville was in real trouble! "We will not laugh," promised Lacy. "Now put them on!" Lucia knew it was the only way. She put on her glasses. Licia and Lacy tried not to laugh. But the giggles bubbled up inside them. They couldn't hold them in. Lucia frowned. She took off her glasses. While the girls were laughing, the ant swooped in. Snap! The ant grabbed Licia and Lacy in it's pincers. 'Lucia, heeeeelllppp!!!" they screamed. "Use your glasses!" Licia yelled. "NO! I don't need them!" Lucia yelled back. Lucia aimed a laser blast at the giant ant… and missed! "USE YOUR GLASSES, LUCIA!!" yelled Licia and Lacy together. Lucia knew her sisters were in trouble. Teasing or no teasing, she had to help them. Even of she looked like a dork. "All right ant," Lucia said. "Get ready to be fried!" Lucia put her glasses back on. A red hot beam shot out of Lucia's eyes. The lenses in her glasses magnified the heat ray. The beam was sizzling, super hot, and more powerful than even before. Hooray! No more giant ant! Licia and Lacy were little scorched, but they'd be all right. Now was Lucia's turn to tease. "Who looks dorky now?" Back on the lab, Lacy told Professor Lee how Lucia had saved them. "And then she zapped the ant, like this!" A laser flashed from Lacy's eyes. The beam smashed Lucia's glasses. Lucia blinked. The room wasn't blurry anymore. "I can see without my glasses," Lucia said. "What do you know?" said Professor. "Lacy's laser must have hit your eyes in just the right spot. It was instant laser surgery. You're cured!"
