It's democracy but is it right?

Today the students in SMP voted for the person they wanted to lead the student council and judging by the campaigning last week there was to be a clear winner among the 4 candidates.

While it is true this student put together a very visible, populist campaign and had a very active campaign team when it actually came to the vote today he was noticably absent. I suspect his promises of a futsal league will have resonated well with the voters but what message does it send when he doesn't even put in an appearance when votes are cast.

It's wonderful the kids are learning about making informed decisions so early in life. It's also good that they learn the popular candidate isn't always the one that will best represent their interests.
